To secure and improve healthcare for the future while creating a place of well-being for doctors, therapists and patients. With this vision in mind, Salvida was opened 6 months ago and can now draw its first conclusions.
On August 16, 2022, after a construction period of just one year, the first patients were treated at Salvida. In the Eisengattern district of Kirchham, a place was created where general practitioners, specialists, dentists, in-house pharmacies, physiotherapy, massage, psychotherapy, shiatsu, cosmetics and even day surgery come together under one roof. After 6 months, we can say that the concept has hit the nail on the head. There are now over 30 doctors and therapists working at Salvida.
When project initiator Dr. Dominik Bammer had the idea of an operating theater in Eisengattern, there were also doubts. In the meantime, the first 100 operations have been carried out and an initial summary can be drawn. “At Salvida, I have the opportunity to operate on my patients’ varicose veins and perform colonoscopies without long waiting times. The atmosphere in the team is great and the patients are very satisfied,” says Dr. Peter Klima about his experience as a surgeon at Salvida. It’s not just the doctors who feel comfortable, but also the patients, such as Melanie K.: “My varicose veins were really bothering me and I would have waited over two years for an operation in hospital. At Salvida, everything went very quickly and I was totally surprised by the anesthesia. Despite the general anesthetic, I was able to get up, eat and drink just 2 hours after the operation and go home immediately afterwards. I felt I was in good hands from the start and the team looked after me very sensitively.”
It is no secret that the healthcare system is facing major challenges. A shortage of specialists, closed beds and departments, overcrowded outpatient clinics and long waiting times for operations are the reality. In Kirchham, Upper Austria, Salvida shows that the courage to come up with innovative ideas can make a significant contribution. After six months, it can be said that the concept has been a success. “The future of medicine is already happening today and soon it won’t just be in Kirchham,” says Bammer, revealing plans for a second Salvida.
