Wisdom teeth often have no space in the jaw, can be displaced or only partially protrude into the oral cavity. This can lead to inflammation and discomfort and requires the removal of the affected teeth, but even if there is no discomfort, the removal of wisdom teeth is recommended in many cases to prevent problems.
Removal may also be necessary in combination with braces in order to create sufficient space for the regulation of the remaining teeth. Ideally, wisdom teeth should be removed in young adulthood, as fewer side effects are to be expected and discomfort can be prevented.
