Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are comprehensively trained through their studies in human medicine, dentistry and specialist training to be able to recognize and treat all diseases, injuries or anomalies in the entire oral and maxillofacial region.
Due to their predominantly surgical work, they are specialized in surgical procedures such as paranasal sinus surgery, dental implants, bone augmentation or all oral oral surgical procedures and often work closely with dentists, orthodontists and other specialists to provide patients with the best possible comprehensive care.
However, oral and maxillofacial surgery also includes the surgical treatment of salivary gland diseases, skin tumors, jaw malpositions or diseases of the temporomandibular joint.
