Proctoscopy is a diagnostic procedure used to examine the rectum and lower rectum. During a proctoscopy, our surgeons insert a narrow instrument, the proctoscope, into the anus to carefully examine the area.
This enables them to identify changes such as hemorrhoids, fistulas or tumors and make an accurate diagnosis. Proctoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure and is performed on an outpatient basis at Salvida Day Surgery.
