An internal medicine check-up is a comprehensive health check aimed at assessing your general health and well-being. It checks various aspects of your health, including physical examination, laboratory tests and, if necessary, imaging procedures. This examination is carried out by internists at the Salvida Center for Health and may vary depending on individual needs and risk factors.
(incl. follow-up appointment and discussion of findings)
An internal check-up often consists of the following:
- Medical history
- ECG
- Measure vital signs
- Individual laboratory diagnostics
- Physical examination
- Ultrasound of the upper abdomen, carotid arteries, thyroid gland and heart
- Echography of the heart
During the internal check-up, doctors take a thorough medical history to gather information about your health and family medical history. This allows doctors to identify potential risk factors for certain diseases. The physical examination focuses on assessing your vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration and temperature, as well as examining various organ systems.
Individual examinations
In addition to the physical examination, laboratory tests can be carried out to check various parameters such as blood sugar, cholesterol levels, liver function tests and kidney function. These tests can help to detect the risk of diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and kidney problems at an early stage.
Depending on age, gender and individual risk factors, further specific examinations can also be arranged, such as a colonoscopy for the early detection of bowel cancer or a bone density measurement to assess the risk of osteoporosis.
The results of the internal check-up will be discussed with you, and based on this, further measures such as lifestyle changes, medication or additional examinations may be recommended. A regular internal check-up can help to identify potential health problems at an early stage and improve the chances of successful treatment.
